Local Events Diary

A new community events magazine, Dod Diary, has been launched in Llandrindod Wells in February 2010.

Dod Diary is produced every month and delivered to every household in the town. Llandrindod Wells has many local businesses providing for our needs and a host of events taking place on a daily basis to provide fun and entertainment of all types for all ages.

Dod Diary brings these together in one place to promote community spirit and encourage local residents to: attend local classes, events, clubs, coffee morning, fairs, discos etc; use local traders and businesses; shop locally.

Dod Diary is exactly that, a diary of events for the coming month: a page per week split 50/50 between events and low cost business advertising.

Do you want your event or activity advertised to every household in the town? Get it listed in Dod Diary for free.

LLandrindod Wells Victorian Festival 21st - 29th AUGUST 2010

Llandrindod Wells is proud to present the leading Victorian Festival in the UK today. Set in the beautiful heart of Wales, it is held in the last full week of August before the Bank Holiday. As Llandrindod was a thriving spa resort in the Victorian era it seems natural to base the Festival on the Victorian theme. The town's unspoilt architecture provides a perfect backdrop to the celebrations, and on Temple Gardens and Middleton Street we have ideal venues for the many different types of street entertainment provided free throughout the day.

For more information please click here

Join in the Festival and display your over 20 year old show vehicle in the grounds of the quiet tree lined Powys County Hall car park between 10am and 5pm. Visit the nearby large lake area with cafe. Ride one of the vintage shuttle buses to see the vehicle parade around the town. Further details from Ken Richards on 01597 825073

The Heart of Wales Farmers Community Market

Location: Opposite the Police station in the Middle of the Town.
Time: 9 am - 2 pm on the last Thursday of the Month.
Operates throughout the year

Why and how benefit Llandrindod Wells and surrounding area?
Foot and Mouth demonstrated the need for shorter supply lines and for the rural community to support itself.
The economic benefits are clear, with some 450 Farmers Markets in the UK, producing £55 million per year. That money goes back into the rural economy in all sorts of ways: farmers buy chiller cabinets, vans, bags, scales, signs, baking equipment, apple presses and so forth. They also hire people and give business to butchers and abattoirs. It filters back into the whole rural community.

Llandrindod benefits by the creation of what is essentially an extra attraction. A regular 1000 extra visitors that this Market attracts boost the Town’s economy.
